Inclusion's Think Tank
Inclusion’s new think tank aims to deliver independent ideas on welfare to work. Building on our reputation as an expert in the sector, the think tank will examine what works for welfare, and identify innovative solutions to the challenges of delivering policies that promote social inclusion and tackle disadvantage.
Pathways to What? Making the single work programme work for people on health-related benefits
In its first paper, Inclusion's think tank argues that the Work Programme presents an opportunity for the government to ensure that people with health conditions and/or disabilities are empowered to take ownership of their pathway into work by introducing new ‘Personal Welfare Budgets’. We recommend that the WCA be revised to create a more sophisticated profiling tool, which includes more open questions that better reflect individual responses and a new element which assesses a broader range of ‘employability factors’ (relating to other barriers a person may face to returning to work).
