Danielle is a Research Assistant at Inclusion, having completed an internship with the organisation. She has gained a range of experience in social research methods while working at Inclusion, conducting telephone and face-to-face interviews, facilitating focus groups, and writing reports and literature reviews. As an intern, Danielle wrote weekly e-briefings, summarising the week’s news stories concerning social inclusion, and she has lately contributed to Working Brief, Inclusion’s monthly journal.
Danielle was involved in a number of research projects, commissioned by organisations such as Save the Children UK, the Department for Work and Pensions and the National Audit Office, during her internship. For Save the Children UK, Danielle not only recruited nine focus groups with lone parents and 12 stakeholder interviews across London and Liverpool, but she facilitated some of the focus groups as well. She is currently carrying out research for the Department for Work and Pensions, evaluating lone parent obligations, for which she is recruiting and interviewing lone parents.
Prior to joining Inclusion, Danielle gained skills in quantitative research methods, including experience of using SPSS and Excel for data analysis, through a work placement at the National Centre for Social Research. At Inclusion, Danielle has used Atlas.ti to analyse qualitative data.
