The Welsh Welfare to Work Convention 2008 brought together policy makers and practitioners from across Wales and beyond to discuss and debate the latest developments in welfare reform.

With the support of the Welsh Assembly Government, Jobcentre Plus Wales and Working Links, the first Welfare to Work Wales Convention featured key themes on :
- Integrating Skills and Employment
- Welsh Assembly Government Employment & Skills agenda
- Regeneration: Deprived Area Fund, City Strategies & Local Employment Partnerships (LEP)
- Commissioning framework
Welfare to Work Wales brought together policy makers and practitioners from across Wales and beyond to discuss and debate the latest developments in welfare reform, with particular emphasis on the devolved and non-devolved policy areas of skills and employment. Through a mix of in-depth policy sessions and case studies the convention will provide the opportunity for practitioners and policy makers to share experiences on the challenges and opportunities of integrating skills and employment, of closing the employment gap and empowering local economies through regeneration, and of reducing child poverty and inequality in the labour market.
Welfare to Work Wales also provided the opportunity for consultation on the new Welsh Assembly Government’s Skills and Employment Strategy.
