Impact of Learning on Employability - London

Learning and Skills Council

Data analysis of 2,679 learners who attended learning providers in London. These were interviewed as part of the national survey 'Impact of Learning on Employability'. An analysis of London learners was written up in a full report and summary report and included comparisons of London learners with the national average.

The findings show statistically significant positive effects from learning for welfare benefit recipients in London, both in terms of moving into work and in terms of improving employability. Only 11 per cent of the learners in London were working immediately before the start of the course (for less than 16 hours per week), while 33 per cent of them had worked since the end of the course. The majority of learners who gained employment after their course did so within six months.
