Evaluation of Year 2 of the Skills Coaching and Skills Passports trial

Learning and Skills Council

Working with IES, Inclusion evaluated Year 2 of the Skills Coaching Trials and Skills Passports (part of the New Deal for Skills) for the LSC under the Skills Call-Off Contract. The evaluation focused on the experience of participants in the skills coaching service, with a focus on women returners and those from BME communities as well as those on inactive benefits.

It examined the effectiveness of skills coaching as a service for those out-of-work whose main barrier to work is skills-based. It involved interviews in nine case study areas with participants, skills coaches, those from the LSC and nextstep who were managing the trials, employers and training providers. It also involved a literature review and analysis of Management Information data.
