City Skills Fund worth £4.5m for England's biggest cities announced
On 9 February it was announced that a £4.5m fund will be given to Engalnd's largest cities to work with colleges and independent providers to fulfil local skills gaps. The fund will also go towards helping local businesses, especially small businesses, take on apprentices.
The fund will be given to the eight core cities, as part of the City Deal announced in Decemeber 2011and will also include London. Each city will recieve around £500,000. The City Deal aims to free cities from Whitehall intervention so they can respond to local needs for innovatively in order to stimulate economic growth. The eight cities are:
