Ellie is a Researcher at Inclusion having completed an internship with the organisation. Ellie graduated from Cardiff University with an honours degree in sociology and has gained experience in a range of research methods, particularly qualitative methods.

Since joining Inclusion, Ellie has built on her research skills through engagement with a wide range of projects, which have been commissioned by organisations such as the Department for Work and Pension (DWP), the National Audit Office (NAO) and the London Development Agency (LDA).

She has conducted face to face interviews with lone parents about their benefits, telephone interviews with young NEET people and learners who have taken out Professional Career Development Loans, and has also carried out desk research for various projects.

Ellie helped to set up the London Skills and Employment Observatory website, a resource pooling the wide range of existing statistics, research and information available on the current state of the London labour market. She also sources and writes stories for Inclusion's weekly e-briefings to update the sector on employment and skills issues.

Recently, Ellie has been building on her quantitative research skills, designing several online surveys for Backing Young Britain participants, PAs working in the welfare to work industry and users of the Observatory website. Ellie has gained important experience reporting on these findings, including organising and cutting data and drafting narratives for reports.

Before joining Inclusion, Ellie spent a year working for the Welsh Assembly Government in Constitutional Affairs as an Executive Officer. Here Ellie developed a broad understanding of Assembly procedures, as well as the wider civil service, and took the opportunity to build on her knowledge of the Welsh legislative system by incorporating this into her final year studies.
